Nippon Paint Surf Chemicals’ surface treatment business, which got its start in 1953, has continued to march forwards hand in hand with our customers in markets such as automobiles, general industrial products, steel and aluminum, beverage cans, and more.

Today, we offer our customers in Japan and around the world our surface treatment agents and technological services, ranging from chemical processing that adds anti-corrosive and adherence properties to metal coating base layers, to functional coatings that add functions such as hydrophilia, anti-corrosion, or anti-fouling to the topmost layers of both metals and non-metals.

Recently, we have been actively engaging in providing environment-focused products and technologies such as ones that save energy or resources. We focus on early understanding of the changes and needs of our customers’ manufacturing sites. These include issues for creating a sustainable society such as climate change and resource depletion, or how to achieve carbon neutrality.

Our surface treatment technology, which creates thin films around a thousandth of a millimeter thick on material surfaces, is contributing to improving the value of our customers’ products by giving them a range of functions.
Going into the future, we shall tackle the challenges of developing and providing surface treatment agents that improve their function levels even more, or add new functions.
